Critical readings

Critical readings in the development economics literature

Readings of peer-reviewed papers from the development economics literature, presenting each argument and then examining it critically against the Arab context.

About this section

These are research notes on published papers by other scholars, prepared while working through the development economics literature. Each reading restates the original argument in the author's own words, then adds a critical discussion of what the paper leaves out and how far its findings travel to Arab and rentier economies.

They are not original research papers, nor a substitute for reading the source. Each reading therefore opens with the full citation of the paper it discusses.

For original research, see the research papers; for standalone analysis, see the articles.

These readings are published in Arabic The critical readings are currently available in Arabic only.
